Welcome to Turin: The Heart of Innovation and Culture
The 2026 International School on Water Reuse will take place in Turin, Italy, from 14 to 17 September 2026. Turin, with its centuries-old heritage, baroque and Renaissance architecture, and expanding innovation ecosystem.
Location
All sessions and lectures will be held in the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology, University of Turin at Via Accademia Albertina 13, 10123 Turin.
How to Get to Turin
By Air: The Turin–Caselle Airport (TRN) is located approximately 16 km north of the city centre. From there, one can take the regional train directly to Porta Susa (~ 30 minutes, ticket ~ € 3.70), the SADEM or ARRIVA shuttle bus to Porta Nuova or Porta Susa (~ 45 minutes, fare ~ € 7.50 + € 1 onboard) or a taxi (30 minutes depending on traffic).
As an alternative, Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) offers frequent coach and rail connections to Turin in about 1.5–2 hours.
By Train: Turin is a major rail hub served by two stations:
- Porta Nuova – for high-speed services from Milan, Rome, and France.
- Porta Susa – for regional and international connections.
From either station, a short taxi or rideshare (5–10 minutes) will bring you to the Faculty. Alternatively, public transport options are listed below.
Public Transport
A standard single-ride ticket costs € 1.70 (valid 100 minutes across metro, bus, tram). Tickets are available at station machines and newsstands. All urban services are operated by GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti).
- Bus: Lines 6 (toward Val San Martino) or 68 (toward Borgata Rossa) from Porta Nuova to “Giolitti” stop; you’ll find the access to the facility just left of the bus stop.
- Walking: From the Porta Nuova main exit, walk northeast on Via Nizza for about 30 m, then continue straight onto Corso Vittorio Emanuele II for roughly 120 m. Turn left onto Via Carlo Alberto and go on for approximately 550 m. At the corner with Via Giovanni Giolitti, turn right and proceed 300 m, then turn left onto Via Accademia Albertina; number 13 will be on your right after about 40 m.
Accommodation
Recommended neighbourhoods include:
- City Centre – within easy walking distance of the Faculty and major attractions.
- San Salvario – a multicultural area adjacent to Porta Nuova, rich in restaurants and nightlife.
- Lingotto – quieter district with business hotels and direct Metro M1 access (Fermi station).
Early booking is advised due to concurrent events in the city.

- Egyptian Museum: One of the world’s most important collections of Egyptian antiquities.
- Mole Antonelliana & Cinema Museum: Iconic landmark offering panoramic views over Turin.
- Piazza Castello & Royal Palace: Historic centre reflecting the Savoy dynasty’s heritage.
- Parco del Valentino: Scenic riverside park featuring a medieval village reconstruction.
