International School on Water reuse in a circular and symbiotic perspective.
Statement of intent
Water scarcity is fast turning into water emergency at worldwide scale.
Water reuse represents a key approach towards a sustainable solution since it reduces the water consumption from primary resources.
The school will have a multidisciplinary character because the theme of water reuse encompasses multiple aspects, spanning from water treatment technologies to social expectation and acceptance, from integrated decisional platforms for policy makers to industrial symbiosis, from the environmental sustainability to legislation aspects….
All these sectors involve a variety of disciplines and actors, and an extensive interaction between them is required, to face in a wide and complex dimension the water reuse.
Moreover, a progressive learning of the key issues and the different languages belonging to each discipline is needed in order to achieve a mutual comprehension, yielding efficient communication and synergies.
This multidisciplinary character constitutes an enormous asset for the School, towards the participants (teacher and students), at the present time as well as in a long lasting perspective.
Indeed, the greater the communicative efficacy, the more effective will be the transfer of information and knowledge in different contexts.
To optimally deal with water reuse challenge, the School will promote the sharing of knowledge and ideas, reinforcing the multidisciplinary assets and giving the opportunity to participants to bring their own contribution and enrich themselves.
The School has the challenging goal of being able to bring together the complexity of the individual disciplines, to face the water reuse as a whole, in a context of people not possessing all the specific skills in depth.
The following topics will be addressed:
- Policies, plans and regulations for water reuse
- Technologies for water reuse in a circular and symbiotic perspective
- Stakeholder involvement
- indicators and monitoring schemes and tools
- case studies of water reuse and symbiotic experiences
